In accordance with Article 12, paragraph 3, of the Charter, Malta declares that it has decided to accept Article 7, paragraph 2, and Article 9, paragraphs 4, 5 and 6, of the Charter.
Malta has been a signatory to the Charter since the introduction of local government in the country in 1993, having signed the Charter on 13 July 1993 and ratified it on 6 September 1993. Following the recent reform in the local councils legislation, and taking into account that Malta is already compliant with the above-mentioned four paragraphs,
