JOINT ACTION PROGRAM
FOR THE PERIOD 2010 - 2012 FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION
OF THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE RUSSIAN
FEDERATION AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE SYRIAN ARAB REPUBLIC
ON COOPERATION IN THE FIELD OF TOURISM
(Damascus, 11.V.2010)
The Federal Agency for Tourism (Russian Federation) and the Ministry of Tourism of the Syrian Arab Republic, hereinafter referred to as the Parties,
governed by the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Syrian Arab Republic on cooperation in the field of tourism, signed in Damascus on February 23, 1998,
aiming to expand this cooperation on the basis of the friendly relationships between the peoples,
contributing to the economic and tourism development of their countries,
accept this Joint Action Program for the period 2010 - 2012.
1. In the field of tourist exchange:
1.1. The Parties will assist to expand tourist flow between the Russian Federation and the Syrian Arab Republic;
1.2. The Parties will assist each other in establishment of direct contacts between Russian and Syrian national tourism organizations;
1.3. The Parties in accordance with their national legislation in force will assist in facilitating the formalities related to tourist exchange between the Russian Federation and the Syrian Arab Republic.
2. In the field of national tourism promotion:
2.1. The Parties will exchange experience on realization of the state tourism marketing strategy and information on tourism promotion plans;
2.2. The Parties will exchange tourism promotional materials - posters, slides, videos, CDs etc., and they will coordinate with the concerned parties to display the promotional films of each country in the other's national TV;
2.3. The Parties will assist in organizing familiarization trips for experts and journalists specialized in the field of tourism;
2.4. The Parties will exchange statistics and other information related to tourism, including the information on tourism infrastructure development;
2.5. Each Party will encourage the participation of the tourism organizations from its state in the international travel fairs and other tourism events, held in the state of the other Party with the support of its national tourism administrations.
3. In the field of tourism education and training in the sphere of tourism:
3.1. The Parties will exchange the information and experts between the tourist organizations of both countries further to education and upgrading professional skills of the tourism industry personnel;
3.2. Each Party within its capacity will participate in the conferences and seminars held by the other Party on human resources development in the sphere of tourism.
4. In the field of tourism legislation:
The Parties will exchange information on national tourism legislation including hotels classification and quality control system in the field of tourism and hotels.
5. In the field of tourism investments:
5.1. The Parties will exchange information on investment projects in the sphere of tourism;
5.2. The Parties will contribute to the development of cooperation between Russian and Syrian tourism organizations, carrying out the investments in the sphere of tourism.
