"Протокол между Правительством Российской Федерации и Правительством Турецкой Республики о сотрудничестве в газовой сфере" [рус., англ.] (Подписан в г. Анкаре 06.08.2009)

authorizations for maritime reconnaissance and environmental survey along the route of the South Stream gas pipeline for its construction within the exclusive economic zone of the Republic of Turkey.

Article 3

The Parties shall encourage the joint implementation by the concerned Russian and Turkish companies of the following promising projects in the territory of the Republic of Turkey on:
- Feasibility study for expanding the existing pipeline from the Russian Federation to the Republic of Turkey going across the Black Sea water area and for construction of new gas pipelines (including but not limited to the Blue Stream 2 project), which will enable the transportation of Russian natural gas to Turkey and via Turkey to other destinations;
- Construction of underground gas storage facilities;
- Construction of natural gas power plants;
- Production of mineral fertilizers,
The Parties shall as well encourage the establishment of joint ventures between Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) and Gazprom in third countries with respect to hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation.

Article 4

This Protocol shall not affect the rights and obligations of States Parties arising from other international treaties to which they are Parties.

Article 5

Disputes and differences between the Parties regarding the interpretation and/or fulfilling of provisions of this Protocol shall be settled by way of negotiations between the Parties.

Article 6

This protocol shall enter into force on the date of the receipt of the last written notification by which the Parties inform each other, through diplomatic channels, that the internal legal procedures required for the entry into force of the Protocol have been completed.

Done in Ankara this 6th day of August 2009 in two copies, each in the Russian, Turkish and English languages, both texts being equally authentic. In case controversies should arise regarding the interpretation of the provisions of this Protocol, the text in English shall be used.
